Just A Quick Update - I Am Still Here...

Just a quick update to say "I am still here!" Just busy, with new and exciting things!

I got the coolest most awesomest job in the world, and that has been keeping me busy. I am now a Cluemaster at "Epic Escape Game" and I LOVE it.

So instead of taking pictures of miniatures, I'm taking pictures of things like this for our Facebook page.

If you're in Colorado, you should definitely come check us out.   And if you're not in Colorado, you should see if there's an escape room place where you are because they're AMAZING! So fun!

I haven't done anything crafty in a while (that wasn't related to Brain Teaser Tuesday... but you'll have to wait until Tuesday to see what I've been working on for that).

I made Petitplat Caterpillars (these aren't mine. This is a still from her tutorial video, which you should check out - Polymer Clay Caterpillars)

I made a handful of them, and with each one realized something different I should do to make them better. I'll have pictures of the next batch once they're done. :)

(And if YOU decide to make caterpillars from her tutorial and you'd like to trade, email me at wendy at and we'll work something out! I would love to trade caterpillars!)

But that's not the really exciting news.  In really exciting news, I might have accidentally ordered some new books -

Sew Dolled Up by Boutique Sha
How to Sew Little Felt Animals by Sue Quinn

If you have had any experience with any of these books, I would love to hear it! I'm anxious to give these little dollies a try. I've not really worked with felt before, but I've thought all of these were super cute for a while now. It's time to try new craftiness!!!

There will probably always be dolls in my life, but this time, it seems like they might be made of things other than resin. :)

So, there's a little update. Pictures of the things I'm working on as I get things done and presentable. Wish me luck with the books! And thanks for hanging around and reading my ramblings. I'm not 100% sure of where my path is leading right now, but there will always be crafty things in it.

It's always Midnight somewhere...

- Wendy

  1. Felting is fun, you will enjoy it. I had purchased a book on how to make wee animals out of felt that were suitable for my Blythe, she's lonely. I made one and he isn't too weird looking. I'll look up the title, I found it in Joann's. There are all kinds of cool videos on youtube on how to felt. I mostly wanted to make mice out of felt like that lady makes them on Mouses Houses blog. Congrats on your new cool job!

    1. Hi Lisa! I dunno if these guys are actually needle felted or just sewn from felt. I guess we'll see! I haven't ever tried needle felting, though it's on the list too. :)

And thanks! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new job! It is seriously the perfect Wendy job. *dreamy sigh* I'm a lucky pup. And now I'm going to be a lucky pup with cool books! I can't wait for them to get here! :)

Thanks for stopping by and commenting! You rock. *hugs*

  2. Glad to hear everything is going so great for you. I look forward to seeing what you make from your new books. - Lily

    1. LILY!!! Hi! Hi! I will email you again (I think the one I sent way back in January [!] must've been eaten by email zebras. I hate those things!!!) I hope things are great for you too. I'll send you and email and we can catch up! I miss hearing from you. *hugs* Bug you soon!

And I am so excited about these books, I can't hardly stand it. I'll be at work when they arrive, and we're camping Sun & Mon, but I have Tuesday off... so you never know what might happen!! :) Wish me luck!

  3. Hi Wendy, congratulations on your new job! Sounds like you are enjoying it. I have the first Salley Mavor book. It is fantastic and so addictive. I have made MANY of those dolls, and so have my kiddos. I have a tote with all the "ingredients" and we take it on vacations. It is a really fun craft to do in a hotel room. I have lots of little fairies and people all around my house, and in my shadow boxes. I think you will really enjoy making them too.

    1. Hi Sam! Thank you so much. I am LOVING the new job, and something about being happy with my employment makes me want to make things. (I'll show you the space bugs I made for this weeks Brain Teaser Tuesday in the next few days). I am so excited about the Salley Mavor books! I can't even decide where to start! I'm waiting on some good felt to arrive in the mail, but I may just try making some with not as great felt.

She came by the Midnight in the Dollhouse Facebook page and said "hi" even!!! So now I really want to do her little Felt Wee Folk justice. :) I guess we'll see.

I love your tote of "ingredients" idea. That's brilliant. I would love to see some of your dollies. Are there any on your blog?

Thanks for stopping by and commenting! *hugs*

  4. Congratulations on your new job, always wonderful if it is one you are really enjoying as well.

Love the caterpillars, they look like fun and the books look really interesting...I think I have a similar one to the first.

    Have fun!

    1. Hi Serenata!!! Thank you! I know so many people who hate their jobs, and I am so lucky not to be one of them. So great!! :)

The caterpillars are pretty fun. I made "space bugs" for a Brain Teaser for work (which I'll post today) using the same technique. You should give them a try! :)

Thank you for stopping by and commenting!

  5. Congratulations on your new job Wendy!
I've never heard of these books before, but I used to make felt dolls back in the 1970's but not since so it will be very interesting so see what you make from the books.
    Please keep us posted! :))

    1. Hi Elizabeth!

Thank you! Ooooh, you should definitely check out these books. I am so enchanted with the Sally Mavor ones (The Felt Wee Folk). I haven't had a chance to really sit down with them and make one yet... but soon! Maybe this weekend! :)

I will definitely keep you posted! :) Thank you for stopping by and saying hello!
