Books from the Attic

So, it turns out...

Dollhouse books are harder than I thought they were.

Oh sure, they're all over Etsy, but they all seemed too big and bulky to me.  I could not find a book that really FELT right in my houses.

I nearly gave up until...

I figured it out. There has been lots of cursing and frustration, but I did it. I figured out how to make them so they were the right scale. How to make them so they were still readable, but not so bulky.

I finally figured out how to make the realistic dollhouse books I was looking for.

Just in time too, because I discovered a treasure trove of vintage books (hidden at my local library! Sneaky library, hiding awesome things like that.)

So.... more to come. Soon...

  1. Wow! These books are amazing! I have a few of the old fashioned books in 1:6 scale from a company long ago. I did not realize how small and amazing these are until I saw the quarter with them! Awesome work!

    1. Thanks, Tracy! I've seen other people do these before, but never in 1:12 scale. AND not all the books will be bound like this. The saddle stitch binding is how these books would've actually been bound, at the turn of the century when they came out. But now I can do book books too, and they're AWESOME! I cannot wait to show you... Thanks for the encouragement. They've been a lot of work, but I think they were worth all the frustration and effort. :)

    1. Thanks, Daydreamer! I keep looking at them and I almost can't believe I made them! I am really enchanted. Just WAIT until you see the titles I've found... I love them ALL! They just don't illustrate books like they used to... :) Thank you for stopping by and commenting! *hugs*

    1. Thanks, Sam! It was important to me that they be to scale, but still readable. That was a trick, let me tell you. :) But worth it... so very, very worth it.

  5. I think that you are a Perfectionist although your books have looked good to me right from the start. I can appreciate the fact that you felt you could make them even BETTER than than they were so KUDOS for persevering until you felt they were 100% RIGHT! :D

    1. *blush* Guilty as charged, Elizabeth. I am afraid I am a perfectionist. Especially when it comes to the dollhouses. This realistic book "thing" has been making me crazy for a few years now, but I think I'm close to making them as perfect as I possibly can.

I can't wait to see what makes me crazy next! LOL!

Thank you so much for your kind words about my books. And thanks for stopping by and commenting. I appreciate all of you who encourage and support my weirdness. Y'all rock! :)
