Two Tiny Bears

I crochet. I used to, anyway. I haven't crocheted anything in a long time.

Then a friend introduced me to a super cool book full of neat patterns, and asked if I could try the teddy bear pattern since she just couldn't get it to work.

No problem.

Though it did take me a while to get used to crocheting so small.

And I did make a few changes, but I'm like that with all my crocheting, in any size.

The larger one is done in size 10 crochet thread, which is what the pattern called for. I can't say it was easy, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

The smaller is crocheted from three strands of embroidery floss.

There might have been a bunch of swearing involved in the creation of this little bear. But now I'm hooked. I want to do more tiny crochet.

More toys for toys.

Of course, these two aren't real yet, because they haven't been loved. But they're intended as gifts for a little dollhouse girl named Anna, and I imagine they'll be real in no time. Since she is. Having been made real by the grown up young lady who owns her.

Hmm... this living toys of toys thing is sort of complicated. I will have to explore this further.

But next, I'm going to attempt to crochet the baby doll next to the bear in that top picture. Wish me luck!

What are YOU working on? What's the tiniest thing you've ever made/built/crafted?

  1. Oh Wow those Bears are Incredible! I mostly crochet freehand because although I can follow knitting directions fairly well, I just do get confused on crochet directions so I really do find your making those tiny bears quite incredible.

I don't exactly know what the tiniest thing I have ever made is, I think it might be a super cute little needle felted ewok I just made for a friend. I need to go ahead and picture that pretty soon, it came out so darned cute I did take one pic of TiGGs holding it, but I am letting my friend do her unveil first - if she does it soon LOL!

Cant wait to see more of your upcoming projects :)

  3. Lovely bears! The tiniest thing I ever made was a crocheted top for one of my dolls, still large in comparison to your work! I look forward to the baby doll :-).
